Systems Tester

The Systems Tester will perform Integration Testing on systems modified and/or developed by the Information Systems Development team. The Systems Tester is challenged by new technologies affecting all areas of the business and is expected to be a quick learner. By utilizing previous test experience and their knowledge of SQL and Unix, the tester should be able to successfully gather specific data and produce quality results for the Test team.

Responsibilities:

Practice a structured, methodical approach to the testing of systems by:

Preparing testing estimates that incorporate all activities required to effectively test the system

Developing effective test plans

Ensuring timely sign-off of test plans

Preparing detailed test case documentation to ensure full coverage of test scenarios

Ensuring that system integration test results are documented and reviewed with users and business analyst

Proactively working with the Development team in resolving defects discovered during testing

Providing guidance and assistance in the User Acceptance Testing phase of a project

Ensure the integrity of all Systems Integration Testing within assigned projects by:

Providing quality information to the project teams within agreed to project timelines including timelines, test plans, test cases, defect logs

Assisting the project team in the resolution of problems by performing sufficient analysis to help determine the root cause of the defects

Providing QA status information to management to determine project timeline tracking capabilities

Previous testing experience with strong computing skills

Knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle would be an asset

Familiarity with testing tools, particularly TestDirector, ClearQuest, Winrunner and Loadrunner, would be an asset

Candidate must be detailed oriented with strong analytical skills

Strong written and verbal skills

Strong experience with:

Quality Assurance methods and practices, with minimum 3 years of hands on experience

Relational Database Management Systems: Specifically Oracle

Operating Systems: Unix Sun Solaris, Windows 2000

Programming languages: Advanced Unix Shell Scripting, PL/SQL
