Reporting to the Project Management Office, the Technical Writer is responsible to write, edit or revise a variety of technical product documentation, such as Administration, End User and Troubleshooting Guides, in both print and online forms.  This role requires someone with proactive problem-solving skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; an ability to work well under tight deadline pressures and successfully execute multiple projects simultaneously; as well as an aptitude to learn new tools and processes quickly.

Duties

Analyze project requirements to determine needed publications

Collaborate with development, product management and quality assurance to gain an understanding of the product, its feature set, and its underlying technologies

Learn product behaviors from product prototypes or early implementations

Create, edit, and maintain accurate technical product documentation (print and online)

Create, edit and maintain accurate procedural documentation including, but not limited to, departmental policies and procedures

Support quality assurance efforts, assemble documentation for audits, and ensure documentation accuracy

Research and evaluate new documenation tools and methods, document and improve documenation processes

Develop documentation project plans and timelines

Where applicable, supervise and train other technical writers on an ongoing basis

Adhere to existing guidelines for the structure and style of documenation

Minimum of 3 years technical writing experience

Experience with common technical writing tools such as word processing software, structured graphics packages, online help creation software, or similiar

Knowledge of one or more of: telephony, software, user interfaces, operating systems, and/or networking

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
